Nusas's Elgin seminar, December 1973

Delegates from the Nusas-affiliated campuses met at a seminar site on a farm near Elgin in the Western Cape at the beginning of December 1973. Four presentations (see below) framed their discussions and plans for student action in 1974:

‘An historical perspective of student action’ by Geoff Budlender

‘Black consciousness and the white left’ by Eddie Webster

‘Whites and the dynamics of change’ by Karel Tip

‘Guidelines for student action in 1974’ by Charles Nupen

According to the prosecution in the Nusas trial of 1976, this was where Nusas leaders began planning to further the aims of the African National Congress and South African Communist Party.
